The Challenge

A homeowner in the Camarillo Ranch area contacted Xtra Clean about their oak hardwood floors throughout the living room and hallways. The floors had not been refinished since the home was built in the early 2000s and showed significant wear — dull finish, light surface scratches, scuff marks, and areas where the protective coating had worn completely through near doorways. A traditional sanding company had quoted $4,500 and 3–5 days of displacement.

Our Process

1. Floor assessment: Confirmed sufficient wood thickness for refinishing and assessed finish wear and scratching.
2. Deep cleaning: All dirt, wax buildup, and old finish residue removed using hardwood-safe cleaning solutions.
3. Light abrasion: Existing finish lightly abraded using screening pads to create mechanical adhesion — without removing any wood.
4. Dust removal: All abraded material thoroughly vacuumed and tacked before coating application.
5. New finish application: Professional hardwood finish applied in multiple coats with drying time between each.
6. Final buffing: Floor buffed to a smooth consistent sheen throughout.
